What is a flipped classroom?
A flipped classroom is when the "learning" or "teaching" part of a lesson is done at home via video, screencast, etc. instead of at school. The "practice" part of the lesson is done at school during class time instead of at home for homework.
What is an "in class" flip?
If you do not have the access or capability of assigning "flipped" homework, there are ways you can work this into your school schedule while still using most of your class time for practice and enrichment. This website will introduce various ways you can utilize the flipped learning teaching model without the homework aspect.
Why flip?
Flipping a lesson allows more time for practice and enrichment in small group rather than teaching in a whole group setting. More time in small group allows the teacher more opportunities to differentiate and give individualized attention to students who need it. If the "teaching" part that is usually done in whole group was done via screencast or video outside of the lesson block, there is much more time for practice and intervention.
