When I flip reading lessons, I try to take the "shared reading" or whole group part and make it into a video/screencast/flipchart. This way, I can assign it to my students and they can watch it in the morning on their devices. When we get to the reading lesson that day, the "teach" part is already finished and my students can begin working and practicing. While they work, I can start pulling groups for a mini-lesson if they need it. This also gives me time to meet with enrichment groups or other intervention groups that might need practice with sight words or fluency. This small group instruction time is so beneficial and really allows me to personalize the learning for all my students.
